A Christian company that does artwork for weddings is facing jail-time and a yuge fine for refusing to work for gay weddings based on their religious beliefs.
Watch below:
Now, they’re not being sued yet – they are suing to challenge a law that could send them to jail for six months for every day they refuse service to gay weddings.
From the Phoenix Business Journal:
Two Valley wedding invitation designers are taking their fight to the Arizona Supreme Court as to whether the city of Phoenix can force them to do work for same-sex couples.
The court has agreed to hear arguments in the case filed by Brush & Nib Studios’ regarding a city nondiscrimination ordinance, according to the Arizona Republic. The case likely will be heard next year.
The studio owners, Breanna Koski and Joanna Duka, said providing services to LGBTQ customers would go against their beliefs as evangelical Christians and violate their First Amendment rights.
They have a Twitter account if you want to express support their fight:
It's #smallbusinesssaturday and we're so grateful for all the clients who have supported our small business the last four years! Thank you all, and happy #shopsmall day! #bride… https://t.co/GBA4CI9sIh
