CNN claims Fox News holding HIGH LEVEL talks with WH over COVID coverage, but Fox News says FAKE NEWS

CNN is claiming today that they have sources telling them that Fox News and the White House has been holding high level meetings over the cable news giant’s COVID coverage, and this perhaps explains why Hannity made a plea last night for everyone to take COVID seriously:

There have been regular, high-level conversations between the White House and Fox News regarding their coverage of the pandemic and vaccines, a source familiar with the talks tells CNN.

News of the discussions comes as one of the network’s stars, Sean Hannity, urged his audience to “please take Covid seriously” on Monday night.

The person who confirmed the conversations cautioned there has been no singular conversation that has played a role in Fox’s coverage of Covid-19. Throughout the pandemic, officials have regularly reached out to Fox News about their Covid-19 coverage. While White House officials often reach out to television networks and other news outlets about their coronavirus coverage, but this outreach is notable given Fox News’ past coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed on Tuesday that White House officials are in regular contact with Fox News.

I can see why this would bother Fox News viewers. Anyone watching wants to make sure they are getting the truth about all of this instead of propaganda from the government.

But not to worry, because Fox News released a statement today saying this is just not true:

“CNN’s reporting is inaccurate. There have been no high level conversations between FOX News Media and the White House regarding our coverage. We had one routine briefing with the White House in early May on vaccination rates and our DC bureau personnel are regularly in touch with them on a variety of issues, as is the case with every other network.”

So there you go. And for what it’s worth, Cable News Watch says Hannity has been giving the same message about COVID for months. So this is really nothing new.
