On CNN this morning there was a panel of guests to talk about how racist Republicans are and why Trump is causing murder, but one of the guests took it further and said that this is just basically what Americans are like.
Democrat Nina Turner who runs a PAC called Our Revolution said it to Jake Tapper, somehow blaming the president for the “atmosphere” that lead to yesterday’s horrific murders, but also saying that nobody should be surprised by them because it’s the “American DNA.”

He does have to take some responsibility for the type of racist vile climate that we find ourselves in,” she said. Then she said it’s “not new.”
“This is in the DNA of America, so I’m surprised that people are surprised. What is happening is that what is in our root as a country is bubbling up now, and that’s what people are surprised by.”
If you’re wondering, no, nobody on the show bothered to disagree with her about the American DNA, though the token republican for some reason was very thorough about listing all the Jewish people that Trump knows. Because Republicans defend Trump first and America second these days.
There was nothing redeeming about the overall segment unless you’re a big fan of irony. It was a bunch of talking heads blathering about unity while brutally trashing Republicans and Trump.
