CNN reporter interviews Trump supporters at rally, can’t believe they support Trump on ‘caravan’ and birthright citizenship!

A CNN reporter went to the Trump rally in Florida last night and interviewed several Trump reporters about both the migrant ‘caravan’ and the birthright citizenship executive order that Trump has announced. And honestly, she seemed shocked that Trump supporters backed Trump on these issues.

Watch:

I thought nearly everything I heard from these Trump supporters sounded quite reasonable. This CNN reporter, on the other hand, sounded like an idiot.

She claims that because the migrant mob is 800 miles away that it isn’t an invasion. She said that in the narration! Did she not see how they invaded Mexico? Not only did they throw rocks at Mexican officials, but they knocked down a gate and then jumped off a bridge to circumvent authorities. How is that not an invasion? It doesn’t matter if they are 800 miles away or 10 miles away.

And what exactly is wrong with putting troops on the border to send this migrant mob a message? Trump isn’t the one who started this caravan and I see no problem with him sending troops to the border to prepare for them – election or not. And NO, I don’t think it’s solely an election ploy but if it helps bring out folks to the polls, I’m all for it.

She also asked supporters about birthright citizenship and seemingly couldn’t believe that they were with Trump on this. She actually said in her narration “the president’s false claim that he can end birthright citizenship”. Look, there are plenty of people that say Trump can end it – at least while he’s president – with an executive order. This reporter cited Paul Ryan as saying that Trump can’t do it, but we’ll cite Mark Levin knows what he’s talking about and says Paul Ryan is wrong:

Paul Ryan has no idea what he’s talking about. Today he said: “We, House Republicans and this President, are in total agreement on the need to stop illegal immigration. To secure our border and fix our laws,” Ryan said. “I think the smarter, faster solution here is to crack down on illegal immigration and we obviously support doing that. But, I’m a believer in the Constitution, I believe in interpreting the Constitution as it’s written, and that means you can’t do something like this via executive order.”

Not until the 1960’s has the Constitution been interpreted to convey birthright citizenship on the children of illegal aliens. And not due to any congressional statute or court ruling, but decisions by various departments and agencies of the federal bureaucracy. So, to be clear, the president would not be altering the 14th amendment or the intent of the 14th amendment or the original interpretation of the 14th amendment. On the contrary, the president would be taking charge of the executive branch and upholding the 14th amendment. And I challenge Paul Ryan to demonstrate otherwise. That’s not to say that activist judges and courts might not embrace Ryan’s knee-jerk position, but the president is right.

Regardless of all of this, the Trump supporter who told CNN that it would go to the Supreme Court is right. As soon as its written it will be challenged and then maybe next June, if we’re lucky, we’ll find out if the Supreme Court upholds it or rejects it. But to categorically reject the idea as this CNN reporter does just doesn’t seem very objective at all on her part. But then again, this is CNN.
