CNN is being widely mocked for retracting a story attempting to tie a Trump advisor to the Russians.
CNN retracted a story on Friday that connected Anthony Scaramucci, a prominent ally of President Trump, to a Russian investment fund managed by a Kremlin-controlled bank.
“On June 22, 2017, CNN.com published a story connecting Anthony Scaramucci with investigations into the Russian Direct Investment Fund,” the news organization said in a statement.

Scaramucci was pretty magnanimous about it:
.@CNN did the right thing. Classy move. Apology accepted. Everyone makes mistakes. Moving on. https://t.co/lyVajCKNHx

The Hill explained what the false story was:
The retracted story had claimed that Senate investigators were looking at the activities of the $10 billion Russian investment fund in connection to Scaramucci, who served on the executive committee of Trump’s transition team.
Scaramucci is the founder of the global investment firm SkyBridge Capital. It was thought the hedge fund manager would be appointed to lead the White House Office of Public Liaison and Intergovernmental Affairs under Trump, but didn’t enter the position.
Well that didn’t go too well. But for as many people are nailing CNN for this error, there actually ARE a lot of connections between Trump people and Russians….
