CNN’s Chief Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin stepped into it big time when he made a ridiculous assertion during Barr’s press conference.
In the presser, Barr explained that they took into account evidence of Trump’s frustration over the Mueller investigation undermining his presidency when making their determination that he did not obstruct justice.
But Jeffery Toobin has another theory:
Happy people don’t obstruct justice. Trump’s frustration at leaks and investigation are evidence of guilt, not innocence. But let’s see the report . .
— Jeffrey Toobin (@JeffreyToobin) April 18, 2019
That’s patently ridiculous. Where is this guilt? Mueller found that Trump did NOT collude!
Also, if this was really evidence of Trump’s guilt then Trump would have likely obstructed justice, which he clearly did not.
But even more so, it’s absurd to suggest that just because someone is frustrated that it means they are guilty. Innocent people don’t ever become ever unhappy when falsely accused? Idiot.
Toobin’s tweet didn’t go over well at all on Twitter. Here’s a few responses:
This is just embarrassing. It’s literally Elle Woods’ excuse for why her client couldn’t have committed murder in “Legally Blonde.” https://t.co/S4w4HITqby

This is the Left’s strategy. Make a false accusation and then claim that your anger at the accusation is proof of its veracity. They did it with Kavanaugh and now Trump. It really is vile and stupid and dishonest. https://t.co/LEt5oI9QHD

How leftists operate:
1. Make a false claim about a person
2. Watch the target vigorously defend themself against the smear
3. Publicly conflate their defense with culpability
It’s gross, dishonest, and wholly un-American.#MuellerReport https://t.co/Z0TjFU0Xko
