We all watched for months last summer as CNN hosts played down or dismissed the incredible violence showcased in the BLM riots that started after George Floyd’s death. I believe Fredo Cuomo’s exact words were “Please, show me where it says protesters are supposed to be polite and peaceful.”
Last night both he and Don Lemon did it again, suggesting the BLM riots were far more righteous and justifiable than the riot at the Capitol last week. And they want people to stop comparing them or something:

Here’s the substance of what Don Lemon said, via Newsbusters:
Listen, I don’t mind that you’re late. Because that was a very important interview. And listen, I’m glad you mentioned about being shot by cops because you cannot compare. And I’m sick of people comparing. You can’t compare what happened this summer to what happened at the Capitol. It’s two different things.
One was built on people, on racial justice, on criminal justice, on reform, on police not beating up – or police treating people of color differently than they do whites. Okay? That is not a lie. Those are facts. Go look at them. What happened at the Capitol was built on a lie perpetrated by the President and the people who support him.
So, just on that one merit, if you want to call it that, it’s not comparable. Those things are not comparable. So they should not be doing it. And stop this whataboutism.
Violence is violence. I don’t care if it happens at the Capitol or on the streets of Minneapolis. I don’t care if there’s a truth behind it or a lie. What happened last summer was horrific and these rubes at CNN encouraged it. But now they stand on their mighty podiums to denounce what happened last Wednesday, as if it’s completely different than burning down a police station, burning down businesses and ruining the lives of many over the uninvestigated death of a man at the hands of police officers.
Why do you think angry protesters stormed the Capitol last week? Because they saw BLM’s violent riots all summer long and the Democrat media loved it. They saw Antifa fight the cops in Portland, night after night, for months on end and the Democrat media dismissed it or ignored it. They saw Antifa literally take over a section of downtown Seattle, and Democrat leaders allowed it to happen for weeks, if not months, calling it the ‘summer of love’. Violence begets violence, and that’s part of the reason these protesters were so brazen to do what they saw both BLM and Antifa do all last year.
I’m not saying that storming the Capitol isn’t a big deal. It was a huge deal because it is the place where our nation’s elected leaders do the country’s business. And as I said last week, it was appalling and every one of those protesters should be punished.
But to pretend that what happened last year and what happened last week aren’t comparable because one is more righteous than the other – well that’s utter garbage. But it is what we’ve come to expect from CNN’s Dumb and Dumber.
