CNN’s Jake Tapper fact-checks claims made by both Bernie and Ocasio-Cortez

CNN’s Jake Tapper fact-checked the claims by both Bernie Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez regarding the Mercatus study on Bernie’s Medicare-For-All plan.

Watch:

Bernie made the claim that the Mercatus study showed that Medicare-For-All would actually save the government two trillion in ten years. And the girl from the Bronx says the study claims that MFA is much cheaper than the healthcare system we have now.

In short, Tapper concludes that both Bernie and Ocasio-Cortez are misleading voters when they make these claims, saying bluntly that it’s not true.

Now of course Tapper used kid gloves, trying not to take any sides in the debate. And he makes clear that he can’t say whether or not the Koch brothers had any influence over this report, but he does point out that the study author says they did not.

I would have liked to have seen him mention the other report on Bernie’s 2016 MFA plan done by the Clinton senior health policy advisor, that came up with similar conclusions of explosive debt and taxation. That would have been amazing.

But alas, the media doesn’t really care about this issue as it doesn’t involve false statements made by Trump. The fact that Tapper put out a three minute video on it kinda surprised me, but don’t expect it to get many views. However I do expect he will air it on his show.
