In an interview on CNN tonight Jim Schiutto seemed to be shocked at how far former Republican Representative Pete Hoekstra went to slavishly lick Putin’s jackboot to justify Trump’s gushing tweet.

Former Rep. Pete Hoekstra told Sciutto that President Obama’s actions in expelling Russian operatives was “petty.” He continued, saying that President-elect Donald Trump’s recent tweet praising Russian President Vladimir Putin was important to distinguish between the two administrations
“He’s saying the better behavior was modeled by President Putin,” Hoekstra said.
Sciutto seemed shocked.
“What better behavior?” he asked. “By hacking the U.S. election, annexing Crimea, backing a stealth invasion of Ukraine, violating negotiated US/Russian nuclear weapons how is that model behavior?”
Hoekstra said that those examples weren’t model behavior but that Trump was talking about Putin’s statements made last night.
“[Trump] also understands the wild west of cyber security, this new cyber warfare, this new cyberspace or battlefield better than President Obama,” Hoekstra continued.
Sciutto, again, seemed surprised by the claim.
“Does he?” Sciutto asked, rhetorically. “How does he know it better? What’s interesting here, Congressman Hoekstra, is that Donald Trump and his closest circle of advisers are isolated. Not opposed just to the Democrats and the Obama administration but virtually the leadership of their entire party. The House Speaker, Republican, the Majority Leader, Republican, senior Senate Republicans pushing for even stronger sanctions against Russia. They all say Russia hacked the election and the US needs an even stronger response. You have a president-elect who has not even granted the premise that Russia was behind this cyber attack.”
At one point, Hoekstra says ALL the Russians did was hack into a political party’s database, download private information, and then release it strategically to advocate their political aims!! That’s ALL!! LOL!
Then he tries to justify Russian hacking by saying we do it too. So, does that mean we just let anyone do whatever they want? It’s obscenely stupid.
It’s pretty incredible how Republicans are lining up to slaver over Donald Trump and his authoritarian goon squad. But they’re showing the same spine they showed before a leftist authoritarian Obama, so it shouldn’t be surprising what they do before a populist authoritarian.
