This is not good news.
The Cook Political Report just announced this morning that they are moving the race between Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke from LEANS REPUBLICAN to a TOSS UP:
Three Senate ratings changes today:
#MTSEN: Likely D to Lean D ⇨
#TXSEN: Lean R to Toss Up ⇦
#WVSEN: Toss Up to Lean D ⇦

Cook defines Toss Up as you might expect: “These are the most competitive; either party has a good chance of winning.”
Sorry, but I just don’t believe this is true. Even if it is true, they are going to have to drag me kicking and screaming to get there.
Why? Because I think most of this data is based on polls with samplings of registered voters instead of likely voters.
Even now, this morning, a new PPP poll has come out this morning showing Cruz leading by only 3 points:

The poll was conducted September 19th and 20th among 613 Texas registered voters.
Registered voters AGAIN. Why would they do this so late in the game?
So no, I’m not buying that this race is a toss up, not yet.
