Cop on leave for refusing to wear mask and cursing at Oregon governor’s order

A cop has been placed on administrative leave for refusing to wear a mask and then cursing out the Oregonian governor for issuing the order.

Here’s more about what happened:

An Oregon state trooper has been placed on leave for refusing to wear a mask in a coffee shop — and allegedly saying, “F— Kate Brown,” referring to the Democratic governor, whose statewide order went into effect the same day, according to a report.

The trooper was among four who entered Allan’s Coffee & Tea in Corvallis on Wednesday without wearing face coverings, according to The Oregonian, which obtained a video of the group entering the eatery.

Travis Boss, the assistant manager, said the trooper is a friendly regular.

“Hey, you gotta have your mask on,” he recalled saying on the same day Brown’s mask order went into effect and hours before she urged Oregonians to wear them as a “simple, common-sense way to protect yourself and others.”

“Governor Brown has no authority to take our civil liberties. We aren’t going to wear masks,” the trooper allegedly told Boss, the outlet reported.

“He said, ‘F— Kate Brown,’” Boss said. The video does not include sound.

Hmmm. Yeah. I completely understand people who object to wearing masks, they’re uncomfortable and they really suck. I happen to have a larger-than-usual head, so normal sized masks pull on my ears and make my glasses fall off my face incessantly. It’s annoying. BUT… this dude is a cop. He needs to follow the governor’s orders. Not only is it insubordinate, but it also put the business owner in a really bad position. Does he follow the law, or does he try to keep his cop customers happy? Not good. Now he’s caught in the middle just because the cop doesn’t like the orders the governor passes….
