Senator Rand Paul revealed that police arrested a man for threatening to kill him and his family with an axe!!
Kentucky’s Junior Senator commented on the situation during a Rotary meeting in Grayson County on Monday.
US Capitol Police have only confirmed an investigation, not the details, the man’s identity or an arrest. The situation comes months after the attack in his yard and a year after the Republican congressional baseball team shooting.
“This week, someone threatened to kill me and chop family up with an axe,” Senator Paul told the audience. “He’s been arrested. It’s like, really? Where is this going to end?”
The comment came at the start of the Rotary event in Leitchfield as Senator Paul spoke of the latest threat in what has been 13 months of violent attacks. First, he was at practice June 14, 2017 when a gunman attacked the Republican congressional baseball team. Then, in the fall, a neighbor attacked Senator Paul at his Bowling Green Home.
Capitol Police confirm there is an investigation in the axe threat.
“I think it’s being treated with enough seriousness that he’s been arrested, you know, I don’t know if anybody can immediately tell if something is a real threat or not but we treat it all with seriousness so we’ll see what happens,” said Sen. Paul.
We don’t know what his motivation was, but it’s not unreasonable to think it might have something to do with the insanely heated rhetoric on both sides these days.
