Dan Crenshaw defends Liz Cheney’s vote to impeach Trump

Dan Crenshaw took to Twitter tonight to defend Liz Cheney as a ‘principled leader’, with backbone, after she lead nine others to join Democrats in impeaching Trump:

Crenshaw writes “Let’s get some truth on the record: @Liz_Cheney has a hell of a lot more backbone than most, & is a principled leader with a fierce intellect. She will continue to be a much needed leader in the conference, with my full support.”

Matt Gaetz fired back at this colleague, saying “With all due respect to Rep. Crenshaw, this is a minority view within the minority party.”

There are plenty of others who disagreed as well…

I think Cheney made a terrible mistake that may cost her in two short years, especially if she ends up being primaried. Impeaching Trump was a big deal. She wasn’t content just to let Trump leave office next week, which seems like the more than reasonable thing to do. Rather, she dug deep into the ditches of political destruction and voted to try and destroy Trump’s political career, once and for all. This wasn’t a principled decision, like Crenshaw suggests.

I’m sure, if Trump has anything to say, it will come back to haunt her.
