David Walker: You can’t add a wing onto a house that is headed for foreclosure

David Walker is one of the most credible people you will hear discussing our fiscal problems. He worked in the Government Accounting Office (GAO) for 10 years from 1998 – 2008 and was the chief auditor of the Federal Government. He’s wasn’t responsible for making policy, he just came in after all was said and done and assessed the ‘damage’. In short, he knows what he is talking about.

Back in 2007, before TARP and Porkulus, he was already preaching that we had a fiscal cancer called ‘spending’ that was going to bankrupt is if we didn’t reign it in. He was certainly concerned about health care costs and Social Security spending that we would be obligated for when the ‘baby boomers’ started retiring.
