Debt Ceiling deal passes the Senate but 31 Republicans voted against it and here are their names

Late last night the debt ceiling deal that Kevin McCarthy negotiated with Biden passed the Senate with zero amendments, 63 to 36. Which means it will go straight to Biden’s desk to be signed.

As it was in the House, more Democrats voted for the deal than Republicans. In fact 31 Republicans voted against the deal and their names from the roll call are below:

Mike Lee tried to amend the deal so that Biden couldn’t waive the ‘paygo’ portion of the bill, but as I suggested it failed.

Biden is set to give a speech on the debt ceiling some time today where I’m sure he’ll be taking credit and boasting about how he beat McCarthy and Democrats won. Bet on it.
