Beto O’Rourke, who’s candidacy has failed to get traction among Democrats, is now promising gun confiscation if elected president:

O’Rourke was asked Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia, how he would address the fears of some Americans that the government would take away their assault weapons.
“I want to be really clear that that’s exactly what we are going to do,” the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate said. “Americans who own AR-15s, AK-47s, will have to sell them to the government. We’re not going to allow them to stay on our streets, to show up in our communities, to be used against us in our synagogues, our churches, our mosques, our Walmarts, our public places.”
This is absolutely gun confiscation, masked in the liberal verbiage of a mandatory selling of guns to the government.
Because what would happen if we don’t sell our ARs back to the government? Well Beto makes that clear by saying “we’re not going to allow them to stay on our streets”. Which means he will have authorities seize the ones that weren’t ‘sold’ to the government.
Can you imagine Beto running against Trump in the general with this gun confiscation message? I think it’s very possible that it might have the effect of turning the whole country red again.
