Biden, who still leads in most polls, is trying to send a message before the debate tonight, a message reminding Democrats that he was their favorite president’s VP:
Barack Obama was a great president. We don’t say that enough. pic.twitter.com/FLiYpg8jLR

Actually Biden says that a lot, LOL! Which is my point, really.
Biden sent this out hours before tonight’s debate and it honestly feels kinda desperate, as if he’s trying to suggest a defacto endorsement of his candidacy by Obama. It reminds me of this tweet from Biden earlier this year:
Happy #BestFriendsDay to my friend, @BarackObama. pic.twitter.com/JTd1t7NtyL
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) June 9, 2019
I think his underlying message, though, is about more than just getting votes. I think he wants to be shown respect for being Obama’s vice president for eight years, for serving with the president they adored.
We’ll see how this plays in the debate tonight, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Biden brings up Obama constantly during the debate.
