Desperate NC Gov calls STATE OF EMERGENCY because his state is about to get school choice

The Democrat governor of North Carolina has gone into desperate mode again because Republicans are about to override his veto of their school choice bill.

Like Florida and other states, this bill will allow for parents to send their children to private schools using taxpayer money. Their own taxpayer money, I should say. And because of this Cooper is declaring a state of emergency.

According to WRAL, the new law would “expand eligibility for vouchers from just lower-income families to families of all incomes, while requiring at least 50% of funds to go to children whose families qualify for free or reduced-price school meals. The lowest-income families would receive more than $7,000 in a year, while the wealthiest would receive more than $3,000 in a year, starting in the 2024-25 school year. For the first time, students already attending a private school would also be eligible for the vouchers.”

This is exactly what children need in the state and it means that education is now going to be student focused. If a parent isn’t happy with a bad public school, they can take their child and send them to a better private school. And it’s all parents, meaning low income parents and high income parents. Every parent will have more control over the education their child is getting and that is absolutely a good thing.

As far as the public schools go, competition is always a good thing and will force them to get better if they want to keep children in their schools.
