DHS hits back at USA Today claims about illegals being forced to ‘eat like a dog’ at detention centers

USA Today wrote an article with the headline: “Immigrants forced to eat ‘like a dog’ in ‘overcrowded and chaotic’ detention centers”. They are referencing a report by Human Rights Watch, a George Soros-funded organization.

DHS took issue with the headline, saying it is completely false:

FALSE. Ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of individuals in our custody is a top priority at ICE.

ICE has higher detention standards than most U.S. prisons that hold actual U.S. citizens.

All detainees are provided with proper meals, medical treatment, and have opportunities to communicate with their family members and lawyers.
