Yesterday Elon Musk tweeted out a proposal to bring peace to the Russia-instigated conflict with Ukraine, which got him a lot of criticism, even from President Zelensky.
Musk suggested that Russia redo their elections in the annexed regions in Ukraine under UN supervision, and that Russia leave if that’s the will of the people. And he put it in a poll for people to agree or disagree with:
Ukraine-Russia Peace:
– Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people.
– Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
– Water supply to Crimea assured.
– Ukraine remains neutral.

President Zelensky didn’t like this at all and tweeted a poll of his own:

Today Biden spoke with Zelensky over the phone and then fired off a warning tweet to those who support Russian annexation of Ukraine:
Today I spoke with President Zelenskyy to underscore that the U.S. will never recognize Russia’s purported annexation of Ukrainian territory.

Given what Musk tweeted yesterday, this warning seems aimed directly at him. Which is crazy because Musk was just doing a Twitter poll on an idea to stop the loss of life in Ukraine.
But how would Biden impose these ‘severe costs’? I don’t know exactly, but with Musk just offering to buy Twitter again, it wouldn’t surprise me if Biden tried to use the federal government to make Musk’s life a living hell over this purchase. Maybe an investigation. Maybe a lawsuit. Who knows.
