Did Santorum really lose his cool in an interview this morning?

I’ve listened to this interview a couple of times and honestly, I never heard Santorum lose his cool at all, as Buzzfeed suggests. The interview below starts with the host bringing up the contraception issue, saying that his wife is mad at Santorum, and he wants to know how Santorum will appeal to women. Santorum responds that it is a bogus issue, one that the media has trumped up because they don’t want to discuss the economy and jobs and so forth. The host agrees, but continues to press Santorum, saying that he said it so it must be relevant, and then tries to move on to another question. And that’s when Santorum tells him to hold on, and proceeds to defend himself saying that if he should be allowed to have personal beliefs that may be different from his stands on public policy.

But he didn’t really lose his cool, he just wanted to defend himself from the charge the radio host made after having already explained that the issue is bogus. I thought he handled it quite well as he hit back at the narrative the guy was trying to create. If that is called “losing your cool”, then I hope he does it a lot more.

After that, Santorum’s cell phone dropped but the guy then proceeded to ask a question of Santorum (even though he wasn’t there) alleging that people are donating to Santorum because of his ‘contraception views’ and thus Santorum would then be obliged to legislate that into public policy. How absurd! It’s all a smear to suggest that Santorum will ‘ban contraception’ or something because people give him money. It’s just a false narrative that he media is pushing and apparently this radio host was pushing it too.

Here’s the audio:

I was reading on twitter and David Limbaugh tweeted about this a few times, noting that it was the radio host that was berating Santorum and smearing him:

Have any of you ever been the subject of a hostile radio or TV interview where the questioner distorts your position and badgers you? Well Just because you are for a certain candidate doesn’t justify your support of distortions against him. Listening to that clip frosts me. How many times are people going to keep saying Santorum would legislative his contraception views when he said he wouldn’t? Stop the slander. This radio host actually implied Santo wld seek 2 legislate his contraception views bc he is seeking contributions from ppl who’ll demand it.
