Rudy Giuliani defended Trump today at a Trump rally, telling the crowd that Trump simply meant that people can vote against Hillary so she doesn’t get to appoint judges who will take away the 2nd amendment:

C’mon Rudy, that’s not what Trump said. I mean the first part, yeah. But he wasn’t talking about voting, because this was all based on her already being elected and appointing judges who will uphold her taking away the 2nd amendment.
Watch it again:
.@realDonaldTrump: Maybe "2nd Amendment people" can do something about Clinton picking SCOTUS justices. https://t.co/nNZn2umKbl

As I said before, I think he was talking about the NRA and their constituency being able to maybe stop a anti-2nd amendment judge from being appointed, not about anything more nefarious.
Now if Rudy wants to say Trump misspoke and this is what he meant to say, then fine. But we aren’t stupid and Rudy shouldn’t pretend we are. Just tell Trump to be a man, say he misspoke and own it.
Otherwise this will go for several days and the pressure will build until Trump finally concedes he misspoke, just to make it go away. Might as well and do it now.
