CNN’s Senior Data Reporter Harry Enten gave what I felt was a very balance segment on the state of the race today.
Against the idea that there’s a lot of enthusiasm for Kamala, Enten points out that Trump was underestimated in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania by 9 points in 2016 and 5 points in 2020. Kamala may be ahead in the polls, but Enten points out it’s only by 4 points.
And if the polls shift, as they seemingly do so often between now and November, Enten says Trump will likely win.

Enten also looks at enthusiasm, pointing out that the ‘almost certain to vote’ crowd has actually gone down a point for Kamala against what it was in May for Biden. For Trump, it’s gone up two points in the same time period.
