Megyn Kelly is now blaming one of the victims of Eric Swalwell, who claimed she’d been raped by Swalwell after she got drunk, for getting drunk in the first place.
Here’s what she said:
As a general rule, I think being responsible and cautious is a great way to live. But to blame this woman, who says she was raped by Swalwell after she got drunk, is just reprehensible. Kelly even admits it wasn’t consensual (because the woman doesn’t remember), but still says the woman should take responsibility for herself. Who knows, maybe this victim didn’t get as drunk as she thought she did. The accuser today suggested she only had one glass of wine and it happened to her as well. And if this victim who Kelly is blaming is who I think it is, she said she convinced herself that it must’ve been consensual, even though she didn’t remember. And I guess after it happened a second time, she realized Swalwell was preying on her.
I don’t know all the details, which I think makes it even more perverse to go ahead and blame the victim like this. Look, I’m not a drinker and I’ve never been drunk. I don’t know if someone can get blackout sloshed and not mean to do so. Or maybe this victim just had a bad day and trusted Swalwell enough that she thought she could get that sloshed.
My bottom line is that, even if she had a lapse in judgement, this victim never deserved to be raped in the first place. And for Kelly to suggest it’s her fault, especially this early, is just wrong. And I think Kelly knows this, but now makes her living being contrarian. So she says stupid bullcrap like this just for clicks.
