Leon Weinstein grew up in the U.S.S.R and was able to escape at age 25 through a program that allowed the US to exchange food for Soviets. In 1974, he immigrated to Israel and began his new life outside of the communistic republic.
Since then he has written a book called “Looking for Hugh – The Capitalist Guidebook.” Here is an excerpt from the preface:
At the end of the year 2008 I realized sadly, that most of the population of the country I’d emigrated to —and was so proud to be part of—had, in a moment of weakness, chosen a socialistic dream over capitalistic reality, the very same capitalistic reality that made this country the best habitat for human beings on the planet Earth.
I hope my adopted nation will soon wake up from this nightmarish delusion and reverse our country’s new course before it is too late. It will be painful, but it is the only way out of an experiment that has failed so many times in so many countries, including the one I escaped from: the Union of Soviet Socialistic Republics. If not, my hope is that future generations will use this book as a practical guide for reviving what was once the envy of the entire world: the proud, strong, individualistic, arrogant, and capitalistic-to-the-core United States of America.
