Ed Schultz: Republicans Giveth, Democrats Taketh Away

On MSNBC’s The Ed Show today, host Schultz opens the show with, mother of all shockers, a rant about Chris Christie.

What about all the people? It’s an absurd objection on its face. Clearly Christie was merely referring to “The People” , as politicians routinely do. Even Obama calls Americans his “bosses”. What politician hasn’t said “the people who pay our salaries”? It’s the most common thing in the world.

But beyond that, isn’t it a telling slip on the part of the Schultz to call this an underhanded swipe at democrats? Christie says he will continue to make government work “for the people who pay for it” and Schutlz takes it for granted that the people who aren’t paying for it are democrats. He goes on to mention the unemployed and other democrat gripes of late. So Ed is tacitly saying that people who are getting from the government, rather than contributing to, are naturally democrats. The converse of which would obviously be that those who are “paying for it” are, you guessed it, republicans. Interesting observation Ed.

And just imagine how he’d react if it were Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levin making that assumption. Telling, indeed.
