The Episcopal Church, which was among the first to hop on the LGBT bandwagon, has now ordained an openly lesbian bishop:
CBN NEWS – The Michigan diocese of the Episcopal Church has its first female and openly lesbian bishop. Rev. Bonnie A. Perry was ordained Saturday during a ceremony in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn.
Perry, who was elected in June, said in a news conference that “if you look at scripture, Jesus said absolutely nothing about homosexuality and over and over again, we see Jesus always with people who were perceived by other folks to be on the margin, to be outsiders or less than or not worthy.”
What a load of horse chocolate.
First of all Jesus did address marriage in Matthew 19 – something I just studied last week in my Bible study – in which He clearly points out that God created marriage for man and woman. The chapter is mostly on divorce and when you understand just how much God truly hates divorce, you begin to understand just how important marriage to God. It’s such serious business that even the disciples suggested it may be better to not even marry. My point being that God himself created marriage and it’s a huge deal to Him, and you can’t read Matthew 19 and think homosexuality and gay marriage is something God is ok with.
But even moreso, what about all of the other passages in the Bible that do address homosexuality? Is Perry going to just overlook what the Apostle Paul said about homosexuality in multiple places? Is she going to ignore how God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sexual immorality, which was in large part homosexuality?
These people twist the Word of God into supporting sin and evil when it clearly says otherwise. God will not be mocked and unless they repent, it will not go well for them.
