This was amazing. It happened almost exactly like the headline.
You may have noticed multiple Democrats saying the last few monthsy they’re running for Dianne Feinstein’s seat in the next election despite her not having anounced she’s retiring.
Well on Tuesday she finally announced she’s out.
I am announcing today I will not run for reelection in 2024 but intend to accomplish as much for California as I can through the end of next year when my term ends. Even with a divided Congress, we can still pass bills that will improve lives.

But then she was asked about it and didn’t know she had said she was retiring. When assured by a staffer that she has indeed made that announcement, Feinstein was like “oh my b.”
Feinstein on her retirement: “I haven’t made that decision. I haven't released anything.”
Staffer: “We put out the statement.”
Feinstein: “You put out the statement? I didn't know they put it out.”

There’s something fitting abou the MSM reporter getting it partly wrong when reporting on Feinstein getting it wrong, don’t you think?
