FINA bans biological males like Lia Thomas from competing against women during Pride month

The international government body for swimming, which is recognized by the Olympic committee, just banned biological males who transitions after age 12 from competing against women.

The ban was approved by a 71.5% majority:

NY POST – Finally, sanity prevailed in the world of women’s sports.

Swimming’s world governing body, FINA, announced a ban Sunday on biological men competing in women’s events, unless they had “transitioned” before the age of 12.

In other words, transgender athletes who have experienced the enduring competitive advantages of a male puberty flooded with testosterone, such as greater muscle mass, lung capacity and height, will no longer have an unfair advantage in women’s competitions.

The unfairness was clear when University of Pennsylvania transgender swimmer Lia Thomas started blitzing the competition. A mediocre swimmer when she competed against males, she became a superstar in the pool against women after she swapped genders.

Thomas went from 554th ranked male in the 200 freestyle to the fastest woman in the 500 freestyle at the NCAA Championships this year.

Her teammates were so cowed by the oppressive atmosphere policed by gender zealots and their craven university that they were forced into silence or anonymous griping.

But the FINA ban is a promising sign that the pendulum is swinging back to normalcy on the gender madness we have been living through, which has caused irreversible damage to a generation of children.

And it is a slap in the face to the Biden administration’s embrace of gender ideology as some sort of moral crusade.

Joe Biden probably thought his executive order last week, “Advancing Equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Individuals,” was a winner twice over.

This is most certainly a step in the right direction and I am happy FINA made this move.

It would be better if they banned ALL biological males from competing against women in the sport, regardless of age.

But LGBT activist groups were not happy about the decision, calling it discriminatory:

LGBTQ+ rights groups and other swimmers said the policy would hurt transgender athletes.

“FINA’s new eligibility criteria for transgender athletes and athletes with intersex variations is discriminatory, harmful, unscientific and not in line with the 2021 IOC principles. If we truly want to protect women’s sports, we must include all women,” Athlete Ally, an advocacy group for trans people’s inclusion in sports, wrote in a tweet.

Human Rights Campaign Interim President Joni Madison also spoke out about FINA’s decision.

“This sudden and discriminatory decision is a blatant attack on transgender athletes who have worked to comply with longstanding policies that have allowed them to participate for years without issue. This policy is an example of swimming organizations caving to the avalanche of ill-informed, prejudiced attacks targeted at one particular transgender swimmer. We urge the FINA to rethink its policy and ensure inclusion for all athletes — including transgender women – and allow them to participate in sports free from discrimination, abuse and harassment,” Madison’s statement said.

There’s a lot more backlash to the decision by FINA than what I’ve noted above, and I hope the international body doesn’t reverse course because of the mob. That’s certainly been known to happen in the past and I almost expect it to happen here. Crossing fingers…
