On MSNBC this morning former Army general General Barry McCaffrey expressed “dismay” in knowing that Obama has committed the military to airstrikes against ISIS purely for political reasons. He cites the fact that the objective of the strikes is vague and unsure, leading him to say that they are merely, “political gestures using military power,” and, “internal U.S. politics to show we’re doing something.”
