Tucker Carlson had on his show tonight an actual former CIA whistleblower, John Kiriakou, who served 23 months in jail after blowing the whistle on the CIA’s covert waterboarding of Abu Zubaydah in 2007. Tucker had him on to assess the current ‘whistleblower’:
Kiriakou says that he doesn’t believe this new ‘whistleblower’ is a whistleblower at all, but rather an anonymous source for the Democratic staff in the House.
He also contends that there’s no way this so-called whistleblower’s identity should be protected, noting that he’s not an undercover CIA operative. By all accounts, Kiriakou says, this person is just a CIA analyst and argued that “you can’t hide this person’s name, identity just to save him from embarrassment or trouble of being recognized”. He says it’s just not appropriate.
