Fox News broke records with Trump’s Salute to America!

It turns out that Fox News’ decision to cover Trump’s Salute to America worked out for them very well:

THE HILL – Fox News had 4.8 million viewers for its coverage of President Trump’s Fourth of July “Salute to America” speech, according to Nielsen Media Research, marking the highest ratings the network has registered on July 4 in its nearly 23-year history.

The viewership topped NBC’s prime-time coverage of the Fourth of July fireworks show from New York City, which averaged 3.8 million total viewers.

CNN also carried Trump’s speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington live and averaged 1.5 million viewers.

In the 25- to 54-year-old demographic sought by advertisers, Fox News averaged 793,000 viewers during the president’s remarks, while CNN averaged 353,000 in the category.

Honestly I’m surprised CNN even covered Trump’s speech considering how they were constantly dogging it on their network. Which is probably why their ratings were so poor.

And given the great ratings that Trump’s Salute to America drew, I’d be willing to bet MSNBC reverses decides to cover it next year.

  1. It’s important to note that FOXNEWS “broke records” in large part because of the foolishness of other networks and their choice NOT to air it.

The utter stupidity of literally ALL the other networks led to the high viewer ratings on FOXNEWS, and I’m sure the executives at FOXNEWS are saluting the ignorance of the other News Stations and hoping they keep it up.

NO ONE aired it in its entirety except FOXNEWS and C-SPAN. ALL the other networks promised to show “clips,” except for MSNBC who refused to air any of it in real-time.

    1. Reminds me of how when Amazon decided it wasn’t going to allow sales of items featuring the Confederate flag (yes it’s really the battle flag of the army of Northern Virginia)– the sites that specialized in selling that stuff had their sales go through the roof.

  2. Fox over CNN by 3 to 1 huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggggeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.Hopefully this is an indicator of whats to come next November

  3. We’ll see. It’s a lot harder to lie to people while you’re simultaneously showing them the truth.

  4. And then Trump went on to criticize them… He should pick a friend going into 2020 election season. He’ll need at least one friendly channel…

  5. Well of course it had high ratings. Trump advancing a military coup on the nations capital and appointing himself leader for life? Surely that would be covered by the news.

    Right CNN?

  6. I’d be willing to bet MSNBC reverses decides to cover it next year.

I’d be willing to take that bet…MSNBC will cut off it’s nose to spite it’s face. With the election heating up by then, I’m sure they’ll never cover this.

And the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that.

  8. Maybe one day soon these idiot network execs will get it through their heads that letting their “news” anchors run wild is not working for them, and change things. But as long as the Lemons and Cuomos et al keep getting their fat salaries, nothing will change.

        1. I don’t watch “news” on television because there really isn’t any, or much. Mostly opinion and opinion from a bunch of schmucks I wouldn’t trust to do anything that required more brain strain than raking leaves.

  12. I don’t have any comment on this other than CNN viewers got sick of them injecting their biased commentary instead of allowing people to watch like Fox did.

Scoop, but I do like how you posted the picture of speech with all the raindrops on protective glass. Thoughout the speech, I was distracted by those damn rain drops thinking, NO ONE thought of spraying some Rain-x or equivalent product to avoid these damn rain drops? Photographers/videographers use products like that all the time with good success! Someone there needs to be fired!!!

    1. I agree, Abe, on all counts.

I also was terribly distracted by those rain drops. I can’t imagine how upset Trump must have been when he saw the playback. You know it will never happen again! 😯

      1. Thanks @nc checks and balances, I don’t remember seeing that much rain on that protective glass before when BO or Bush spoke in rain.

        1. I never remember seeing it before! At first I thought it was on the camera lens!
