As you know I’m not really a Shep Smith fan over at Fox News, but this is a good clip. Both he and John Roberts dismantle Trump’s lies about Amazon:
Even The Daily Caller’s own Fact Checker says that Trump’s claims about Amazon and the USPS are unsubstantiated. They even point out that “Package delivery is one area where USPS revenues are going up”.
“It is one of the few bright spots for the Postal Service,” James O’Rourke, a management professor at the University of Notre Dame who studies the USPS, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “If I were to offer a considered opinion here, I would say package delivery service is both profitable and sustaining.”
They also note, which pretty much agrees with what Shep laid out in the video, that the USPS doesn’t receive money from Congress for its normal operations:
The independent agency relies on the sale of postage and products to fund its operations, and it borrows money from the U.S. Treasury to cover losses. Congress appropriates only a small amount of taxpayer money to provide free mail for the blind and official mail for overseas voters.
So how is it that taxpayer are taking such a big hit when the USPS hardly receives taxpayer money?

John Roberts nails it at the end, pointing out that this is really a personal feud with Jeff Bezos and the Washington Post and that Trump is trying to hurt Amazon’s stock price with his tweets. He even agrees that Trump is just making stuff up to hurt Bezos.
