Franklin Graham’s bus ads for gospel crusade REMOVED after massive uproar

Franklin Graham simply wants to hold a gospel crusade in the UK city of Blackpool in September. But because of complaints and an outcry on social media claiming Graham is preaching hate against the LGBT community, the city officials who’d initially put the ads for this event on their city buses have now said they will be removed:

CBN NEWS – As a result of increasing pressure from LGBT groups, the local governing authorities have decided to remove promotions for the event, which were placed on the side of the town’s buses.

“Blackpool Transport has recently been made aware of an advertisement in place on the side of some of our double-decker buses,” said a spokesperson for the company, according to the Blackpool Gazette. “In light of customer feedback and reactions on social media which has resulted in heightened tension, we have taken the decision to remove all adverts relating to the ‘Time for Hope’ Festival with immediate effect. We will reimburse any income back to the advertising company.”

“We work with multiple advertisers and third-parties and in no way do we endorse or support any advertisement which is placed on our vehicles,” the agency added.

Franklin Graham’s Lancashire Festival of Hope is due to take place at the Winter Gardens Blackpool on Sept. 21-23.

Jane Cole, managing director at Blackpool Transport, further explained the controversial decision to remove the ads.

“Blackpool Transport is a proud ongoing supporter of the Pride and LGBT+ communities and in no way did we intend to cause any distress or upset,” she said. “All buses carrying the advert will remain off the road until they have been removed.”

You can see the ad at the top of the page and it’s just an event ad – nothing controversial about it. In fact the event is a gospel crusade where Graham will be preaching Jesus; it’s not a lecture on why homosexuality is a sin.

This just goes to show you how dark some cultures in the world have gotten and just how much they need the light of Christ. They are rejecting the gospel message because it calls out their sin – homosexuality included – and calls them to repentance.

Franklin Graham responded this way on Twitter:

Just yesterday in the USCCB daily Catholic readings, this was the scripture and it applies perfectly here:

Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two
and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey
but a walking stick—
no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
They were, however, to wear sandals
but not a second tunic.
He said to them,
“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.”

So they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.
