GOOD: Fauci says he’ll quit if Trump gets reelected…

If you needed another reason to vote for Trump in 2024, assuming he runs for president, here you have it.

Fauci was bizarrely asked by Jim Acosta last night if he would work for Trump again and he made clear he would not:

Fauci was asked if would have confidence in Trump’s ability to handle another pandemic, should he return to the White House, and if he would want to stay on in his post to work for Trump again.

Fauci suggested he definitely would not want to work for Trump again, saying at the end he would ‘for sure’ resign his post.

As far as the first question, Fauci didn’t really want to criticize Trump’s response to the pandemic. He did say that “at best it wasn’t optimal”, but that history would make its own judgement or something.

It’s good he didn’t go all in on bashing Trump on this because, for the most part, Trump’s response to the pandemic was HIS response as well. Fauci was by Trump’s side the entire time so if the response wasn’t ‘optimal’ or something, that’s also on him.

What I remember, aside from the terrible lockdowns enacted by governors which Trump and Fauci supported, was that Trump was fantastic at solving the ventilator shortage left by Obama by employing the private sector to make it happen. It was a very difficult time with tons of uncertainty, so I’m not very critical of Trump or Fauci early on in the pandemic.

But if there is one person I would say who handled the pandemic the best, it would be DeSantis. He opened his state up in September of 2020 and never looked back, fighting the draconian lockdown policies of certain cities as well as the forced masking of students by school boards. If there were someone I’d want to lead us through another pandemic, DeSantis would be my man.
