Gov. DeSantis believes he can repeat Florida’s historic wins NATIONALLY

In his new book Governor DeSantis seemingly hints at a national run, suggesting he believes he can repeat his wins in Florida on a national scale.

Some say winning in Florida won’t translate to the entire country, but DeSantis writes that his big wins in Florida are “a blueprint for America’s revival. We’ve shown it can be done.”

Here’s more via DC Examiner:

Newly reelected Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose 19-point victory over Democrat Charlie Crist surprised him and most of the political establishment, said that a Republican should be able to repeat his win on the national stage if they follow his model of ignoring polls and governing with their gut.

In his campaign-style autobiography, The Courage to be Free, DeSantis wrote, “From day one, I was fully prepared to let the political chips fall where they may. That we not only succeeded electorally, but did so in dramatic fashion, demonstrates that doing good policy can lead to good politics.”

The Republican, who won with the biggest margin in Florida in a generation, added, “The Florida Blueprint is a simple formula: be willing to lead, have the courage of your convictions, deliver for your constituents, and reap the political rewards. This is a blueprint for America’s revival. We’ve shown it can be done.”

DeSantis has not said if he will run for president, but he is widely expected to get into the race by summer. A group, Ready for Ron, is pushing for his entry, and he is the only potential Republican challenging former President Donald Trump in the polls.

Considering the state’s electoral history, DeSantis expected a close election and dismissed reports of a blowout. “Winning by 5% would represent a ‘landslide’ victory for a top-of-the-ticket candidate in Florida,” he wrote.

But he won by more than 19 points, the most ever for a Republican gubernatorial candidate, sweeping Democratic groups and regions in the state.

“Whereas we had won in 2018 by just over 30,000 votes, in 2022 we won by more than 1.5 million votes — the largest raw vote margin of victory in Florida gubernatorial history,” he wrote.

He attributed the win to a simple recipe of sticking to principles and ignoring polls.

“We were able to accomplish these great electoral triumphs by taking the political road less traveled. We spent four years ignoring polls, setting out my vision for the state, successfully implementing that vision, and producing tangible results,” he concluded in the book.

I really believe that should DeSantis run, he’s got a very good chance of winning both the primary and the general.

Sure, there will be haters. There are always haters – even in our own party. But DeSantis is the kind of candidate that I believe could bring together all the factions of the Republican Party and appeal more broadly to independents.

But winning is always easier said than done. And it remains to be seen how he’ll fair in the primary against Trump once he announces.

This gives me an idea for a new primary poll. I’ll put that in a new post so be sure and check for it shortly.
