Governor Ron DeSantis says he will be issuing executive action soon to stop vaccine passports from being used in Florida:
Here’s what he said:
“You want the fox to guard the henhouse? I mean, give me a break. I think this is something that has huge privacy implications, it is not necessary to do. We’re going to have hit 3 million seniors that have gotten shots sometime this week, like 75% of seniors. It’s important to be able to do it. But at the same time, we are not going to have you provide proof of this just to be able to live your life normally. And I’m going to be taking some action in an executive function, emergency function, very shortly.”
“We are not going to have you provide proof of this just to be able to live your life normally.” Governor DeSantis is making me want to move to Florida.
I’m glad he’s taking such a strong stand against this. Because once we start down that road, more and more places will start demanding it so that, potentially, someone might not even be able to buy groceries without being vaccinated. That would be unsustainable.
Now of course it’s not in the best interest of a business to ban a subset of people, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t happen. You see how quickly the mask mandate became accepted. I can see that happening with something like this too.
I hope more governors come out against this garbage like DeSantis is planning to do. We need to take a stand to ensure this doesn’t become normalized in our society.
UPDATE: Here’s a longer clip of his comments above that I just found:
