Governor DeSantis and the state of Florida just raised the bar on election security by creating an election police force that will investigate election fraud and hold fraudsters accountable.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday approved the creation of a new stand-alone election police force designed to crack down on voter fraud in the nation’s third-largest state.
The Republican governor had proposed the creation of a special unit to tackle election crimes as he came under pressure from some Republicans to do a full-blown audit of the 2020 election even though former President Donald Trump had little trouble winning Florida.
“I don’t think there’s any other place in the country that you should have more confidence that your vote counts than in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said Monday during the bill signing event at a sports bar north of the Tampa Bay area.
The new law will create an “Office of Election Crimes and Security” in the Department of State and also will authorize the use of additional investigators who work in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Legislators set aside more than $2.6 million and 25 positions for the two agencies.
“Office of Election Crimes and Security” is exactly what every state needs to ensure our elections are free and fair. Good job DeSantis and Florida for creating this.
But guess what? Democrats hate it and claim it’s unneeded and racist. That’s right, racist:
Democrats opposed the creation of the new election police and said it was unneeded.
“Even the governor has said that Florida’s 2020 election was secure. Yet this new election crime task force has been developed to solve a problem that does not exist,” said Rep. Yvonne Hayes Hinson (D-Gainesville) in a statement. “Its implementation will put up additional barriers to voting and targets communities of color. This bullying tactic will intimidate and immobilize workers, families, and everyday people.”
Everything that Democrats oppose is ‘racist’. Of course. They are always playing the race card. Why can’t they just be honest and say they oppose this because it will hurt their ability to keep stealing elections.
In the press release about this new ‘election police force’, DeSantis said:
“Twenty years ago, nobody thought Florida was a prime example of how to conduct elections, but we have become a national leader by running the most secure elections in the country,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “We need to do more to ensure our elections remain secure. We have ended ballot harvesting, stopped drop boxes and the mass mailing of ballots, and banned Zuckerbucks, and this bill will give us more resources to make sure bad actors are held accountable.”
You can say what you want about DeSantis doing stuff like this because he’s running for election in the future, but if someone wanted to get my attention and my vote, this would be how to do it.
The country is at a tipping point where the trust in our most sacred right as citizens, to fairly elect our leaders, has been severely degraded. Democrats can claim this isn’t needed all they want, but the American people know that it’s needed more now than ever. At least most of us do.
