Governor Ron DeSantis gave a terrific statement today slamming Biden’s proposed travel restrictions on Floridians, calling it a political attack against the citizens of Florida and leveling it as anti-science with rock solid facts:

The first point he made was quite satisfying, noting that Biden is considering this travel ban while allowing illegal aliens to pour across the border unmolested.
But then he turned it up by pointing out how this proposal isn’t based on science and is nothing more than a political attack.
He starts by pointing out how well Florida is doing regarding COVID cases per capita since December 1st, saying they are 28th in the country. In other words 27 other states are worse than Florida.
He then notes Florida rates 30th in COVID hospitalizations per capita, saying there are 29 other states worse than Florida.
Florida ranks 42nd in fatalities per capita, he says, noting there are 41 other states worse than Florida.
DeSantis then lays out how Florida is even trending better regarding COVID than most other states and how they’ve vaccinated more seniors than any state.
DeSantis says he’s stood with Floridians throughout this pandemic and he will stand with them against this as well and oppose this proposal 100%.
