GREAT NEWS: The world is getting a hiatus from Rachel Maddow!!

In a bit of good news for this old world, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and planet earth are about to be “on a break” as she takes a hiatus from her wildly middling ratings so she can get some “me” time.

The news broke on Monday morning and from one corner of the globe to other, voices poured out in indifference.

Here’s the reporting from Business Insider, which is great for a laugh.

Maddow is taking time to work on a Focus Features movie based on her book and podcast “Bag Man” about a political bribery scandal. It will be directed by Ben Stiller and Maddow will be an executive producer. The influential anchor is also developing a new podcast.

New York Post adds the flavor:

Maddow’s hiatus comes amid significant changes at the network.

Last week, the network announced that longtime business correspondent Stephanie Ruhle would fill Brian Williams’ 11 p.m. nightly time slot and that “Morning Joe” would expand to a four-hour daily broadcast each morning.

Williams, the former “NBC Nightly News” anchor who was reassigned to MSNBC after he lied about his war reporting in Iraq, hosted “The 11th Hour” for five years before retiring in December.

In October, MSNBC president Rashida Jones said she was still “figuring out” what the network’s primetime lineup would look like once Maddow stepped down.

But whatever the reason, I think we can all agree it’ll be very nice to not see her.

I mean I wouldn’t anyway. Like the overwhelmingly vast majority of Americans, I don’t watch her show. But like, I’m aware of it. And for a brief and glorious period, none of us will have to be.
