The highly partisan and hack Attorney General in New York has just announced a criminal investigation into the Trump organization:
NY POST – New York Attorney General Letitia James’ investigation of the Trump Organization is criminal in nature, her office revealed Tuesday.
James’ office had been conducting a civil investigation of former President Donald Trump’s company.
“We have informed the Trump Organization that our investigation into the organization is no longer purely civil in nature,” a spokesperson for the attorney general said in a statement.
“We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA. We have no additional comment at this time.”
James has been investigating the Trump Organization since 2019 after Trump’s onetime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, testified to Congress that Trump exaggerated the value of his financial assets in order to help score more favorable terms on loans and insurance policies. Cohen is serving the remainder of a three-year prison sentence under federal house arrest after pleading guilty to tax evasion and campaign finance violations.
This is exactly what James said she’d do all the way back in 2018, right after she got elected and long before she new of any ‘wrongdoing’ by Trump or his organization:
NBC NEWS – New York Attorney Gen.-elect Letitia James says she plans to launch sweeping investigations into President Donald Trump, his family and “anyone” in his circle who may have violated the law once she settles into her new job next month.
“We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well,” James, a Democrat, told NBC News in her first extensive interview since she was elected last month.
Which is exactly why I trust NONE of this. A true honest attorney general wouldn’t go on fishing expeditions in hopes of making her name on the back of Trump for political reasons, which is what I believe James is doing here. She’s also clearly using her office to try and destroy Trump and his good name to keep him from being the political force that he’s become, especially in 2024.
I hope when the dust settles Trump comes out on top of this despicable AG, although I suspect she’ll be long gone by the time that happens.
