Morning Mika just stepped into it this morning by referring to Mike Pompeo as a “wannabe dictator’s butt-boy”. The wannabe dictator in this insult is the Saudi Crown Prince.
RAWSTORY – During a Morning Joe segment, Brzezinski wondered why Pompeo would support Mohammad Bin Salman after he was implicated in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
“I understand that Donald Trump doesn’t care,” Brzezinski said. “He doesn’t care. But why doesn’t Mike Pompeo care right now? Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on Fox & Friends — is that a patriot speaking? Or a wannabe dictator’s butt boy?”
At that point, the MSNBC control room cut the audio for a second but missed Brzezinski’s slur.
Watch the video:
.@morningmika just asked if Mike Pompeo is a “wannabe dictator’s butt boy,” as homophobic a term as I’ve heard on national morning television. @MSNBC tried and failed to censor it, and did not transcribe her remark in the closed captioning. #journalism pic.twitter.com/3zK7H8evjh

As you can see from this guy’s comments, that didn’t go over well at all:
I was with you, @morningmika, right up to the “butt boy” comment. Try “toadie” or “lackey” or “stool pigeon” or “ass kisser,” or “traitor,” but maybe don’t equate homosexuality with Mike Pompeo carrying water for the murderous regime in Saudi Arabia.

She soon apologized:
Totally agree with you -SUPER BAD choice of words .. I should have said “water boy”... like for football teams or something like that.. apologize to @SenatorDurbin too! SO SORRY! https://t.co/zIqsGdK3Tk

Is NBC just going to let Mika get away with only a Twitter apology? Will they suspend her to prevent other hosts from doing it again? Or will they fire her to set an example?
Probably none of the above. According to Joe Concha:
…Colbert made similar comments some dubbed homophobic last year and no reprimand came. Smart money here is apology and no consequences.
Yep, I’m betting no consequences too. But considering that there are several gay hosts on cable news, including at MSNBC, they may be forced to do something more. We’ll see.
