Looks like Trump is finally gonna get his chance to counter punch Carson. Carson was asked tonight what the biggest difference was between he and Trump and he went straight for his faith:
First immigration and now faith. Wow.
I think most of us don’t consider Trump to be a very religious man, especially after hearing him talk about his faith over the last few months. But I don’t think that is his biggest selling point anyway, or why he’s doing so well in the polls. So I don’t think an attack like this is gonna hurt him.
But what’s more interesting to me is that Ben Carson is now showing a tougher side of himself that will likely help him as well, especially if he can go toe to toe with Trump and not look like he’s sweating.

As Brit Hume pointed out on the Kelly File tonight, both Trump and Carson are tied in Iowa which could be the reason Carson went after his faith. However, he suggested that it may not make Carson look all that good making the attack.
