Mitch McConnell has dropped a new bill tonight for the Senate to vote on, which does indeed raise direct payments to $2000. But it also repeals Section 230 and…
New Sen. McConnell bill combines all this into one:
– Increase direct payments checks to $2000
– Repeal Section 230
– Establish a committee to study the "integrity and administration" of the 2020 election.— Jason Donner (@jason_donner) December 29, 2020
Just as I suspected. He’s demanding a price for the $2,000 increase, and honestly I can’t blame him. In fact I think it’s genius. He’s actually giving Republicans incentive to vote for the bill. And truthfully, a lot of Democrats are unhappy with Section 230 as well. It should be a win win.
I should note that the $2000 direct payment increase bill is not a new bill, but rather the same bill from the House:
McConnell, before Senate adjournment, started the Rule 14 process to get 2 bills onto the calendar – the House-passed $2,000 bill and:
"S.5085, to increase the additional 2020 recovery rebates, to repeal section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934, and for other purposes."

I guess McConnell is doing the same thing they did when merging together the COVID relief bill and the Omnibus spending bill last week. He’s merging the House bill with a new bill to repeal Section 230 and start an election fraud commission.
Of course Schmucky Schumer, who intentionally delayed the Senate from voting on a naked COVID relief bill for months and months, is now saying that McConnell has doomed this to fail and is thus depriving people of a survival check:

This is why I could never be a politician. With hypocrisy this astounding, I could never be friendly with someone who actually lied like this to the American people. Schumer and Pelosi are the reasons why this aid was kept from a needy American people for 6 months, and it was done for completely political reasons. They held the American people hostage in order to defeat Trump in November, and now he wants to blame McConnell for ‘depriving’ the American people of ‘survival checks’ because he added a couple of strings to this $2k bill? What a schmuck.
