I did the math for you and that’s $5.36/gallon for diesel. Just to give you context, the average price of diesel for the last five years has hovered around or below $3/gallon.
This means that trucking companies are now paying nearly double to get consumer goods to our local stores and you can believe that’s going to push prices up even higher.
I checked to see what diesel prices look like around the country and they go as high as $6.58 in states like California and as low as $5.11 in Wisconsin. And we’re not even in summer yet.
