“They’re literally running out of people to cancel. They’re going after dead people now.” Ain’t gonna lie that made me choke laughing. A lot of last night’s SNL monologue did. For once.
In a way it’s bad news for comedian Bill Burr that his monologue was well-liked by conservatives and Trump supporters. But then, since he challenges woke scolds pretty regular, it probably won’t faze him that right wing fandom is considered itself an unwokeness.
And there’s a REASON his monologue made such a huge splash. People call things refreshing but that isn’t even close to enough to say what a relief it is to hear someone have the guts to say some of this on TV in a pop culture venue on a show that gets leftier every week of every season. It’s downright therapeutic, y’all.
Oh and it was FUNNY. That’s another thing comedy forgot about. Bill Burr reminds them.
Yeah sure, I get it. There’s stuff in there that a bunch of right-wing people on Twitter didn’t and won’t like, too, and plenty of it. But that’s how that works, ya know. Fair is fair and in comedy it’s fair GAME.
But you gotta know this was a win for the angels when you see reactions like THESE:
Did Bill Burr really just say that? Calling Black folks "equator people," White women "b–ches" and claiming he never heard of Pride Month. #SNL please do better pic.twitter.com/Y6VrNAHg8H

Bill Burr's opening monologue is just obnoxious and misogynstic. It's 2020. Someone tell him calling women "bitches" isn't funny #SNL

It’s amazing Bill Burr is trying to be woke while being a misogynist POS. White Male Privilege is strong within this Louis CK clone. #SNL ♀️

If they’re that triggered then yeah, this here was a win for the good guys.
