Glenn Youngkin was sworn in on Saturday as the Governor of Virginia. And he was quick to issue the executive orders he promised, banning CRT and ending the vaccine and mask mandates:
CBN – Youngkin fired off nearly a dozen executive orders soon after taking office on Saturday – including a ban on critical race theory in public education, ending mask mandates in schools, ending a vaccine mandate for state workers, terminating the Virginia parole board, and establishing a commission to combat antisemitism.
As soon as Youngkin ended the mask mandate in schools, one school system vowed to defy his executive order. Here’s Youngkin responding to it:

Of course, Biden’s press secretary thanked the school for pledging to violate the governor’s order:
Hi there. Arlington county parent here (don’t believe you are @GlennYoungkin but correct me if I am wrong). Thank you to @APSVirginia for standing up for our kids, teachers and administrators and their safety in the midst of a transmissible variant. https://t.co/6UeNIYoZCU

The media was also quick to freak out over the new governor ending the mask mandate in schools during an Omicron surge:
