Here’s what we know about Bruce Ohr’s testimony before Congress

To be sure, we don’t know a lot about Bruce Ohr’s testimony before Congress as it was behind closed doors and everyone is being fairly tight-lipped about it.

Much of what we do know, however, comes from Rep. Ratcliffe.

Here’s what he had to say last night about it (via CNS News):

1.  FISA application did not disclose Bruce or Nellie Ohr’s involvement:

Ratcliffe says the application to the FISA court to spy on a Trump campaign volunteer did not disclose the involvement of Bruce or Nellie Ohr with Christopher Steele, a foreigner who was working against Trump’s election.

…And I can tell you, as someone that has reviewed the FISA applications, the unredacted versions — I can’t talk about what’s in there. But I can tell you what’s not in there. And what’s not in there is any information about Nellie and Bruce Ohr.

2.  Ohr named around six senior FBI and DOJ officials that knew about his involvement with Steele:

“His testimony today was that he gave us a list of a half a dozen senior FBI and Department of Justice officials that he told of his involvement, his wife’s involvement, all of the details of their interactions with Christopher Steele, with Glenn Simpson, with the payment.

“And these are names, Sean, that would be familiar to you. I’ve heard you say some of these names on your program before.”

3.  One of the officials named by Ohr signed one of the FISA applications:

Well, as a former officer of the court, you have an obligation to have a full and complete disclosure of the facts,” Ratcliffe said. “If I were one of those folks that were identified today — and I can tell you that at least in one case, one of the names that he identified for us today, signed one of those FISA applications — I’d retain a really good lawyer.

4.  Ohr’s testimony conflicted with past statements from others testifying to Congress:

Ohr delivered roughly 8 hours of closed-door testimony to GOP lawmakers that they claimed conflicted with some of the past statements they’ve heard from others as they investigate how the government decided to investigate Trump’s campaign. Ohr also spoke with staff members for Democratic lawmakers.

5.  FBI continued to work with Christopher Steele even after terminating him:

Bruce Ohr CONFIRMED in his interview today: after the FBI terminated their relationship with Chris Steele for leaking to the media, the FBI privately reengaged with him and continued receiving his info. This was after suggesting to the American public they had cut Steele off.

That’s all we know right now until the actual transcript is released. I’m not sure when it will be released, but I hope it will be soon.
