Here’s what you need to know about the baseless hysterical panic over the US Post Office that Democrats are pushing…

Over the weekend social media users have completely lost their mind regarding the US Post Office, with absurd claims fueled by Democrats who are falsely accusing Trump and the Republican Postmaster General of trying to sabotage mail-in voting before the election. We wrote about how this started last week, with false claims of Trump holding up the stimulus bill over post office money. Then the corrupt Adam Schiff tweeted this out on Saturday:

And of course the hysteria has gotten worse over the weekend.

Locked Mailboxes

For example, a former NBA player named Rex Chapman, who has a huge following on Twitter, tweeted that the post office was now locking mailboxes and that it was an immediate threat to American democracy or something…

But this was idiocy. As the Daily Caller quickly tweeted, it took one google search to find out that this was being done to prevent vandalism:

Indeed, even ABC Eyewitness News reported that they “reached out to the USPS for an explanation, and an employee said it’s common practice for mailboxes outside post offices to be locked on days they are closed in an effort to prevent vandalism.” They added “We noticed the mailboxes can still be accessed from the other side.”

But the truth didn’t stop this false tweet from going viral with help from other famous idiots:

Removing Mailboxes

Another example of this hysteria is the false accusation that the post office is actually removing mailboxes for the election!

But as The Blaze pointed out, many of these mailboxes are being removed over lack of use and RELOCATED to areas where they will be more frequently used, according to a USPS spokeswoman. Some mailboxes are also being taken away for repair or replaced with newer ones, according to a different spokesman for the USPS.

There’s also this:

In fact, between 2011 and 2016, there were roughly 14,000 USPS mailboxes removed, which was during the Obama-Biden administration.

A 2009 Washington Post article stated, “In the past 20 years, 200,000 mailboxes have vanished from city streets, rural routes and suburban neighborhoods – more than the 175,000 that remain.”

“The U.S. Postal Service says it removes ‘underperforming’ mailboxes – those that collect fewer than 25 pieces of mail a day – after a week-long ‘density test,'” the report read, echoing what Frum said last week.

It happens all the time, but Democrats pushing this election delirium over the post office has prompted the USPS to stop removing any mailboxes before the election.

Removing Mail Sorting Machines

As you saw from Adam Schiff’s tweet, he hysterically accused the post office of decommissioning mail-sorting machines. And of course CNN took up the mantle in their interview with WH Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Early in the interview Meadows challenged CNN to fact check these claims, and indeed they did during the short interview and came back claiming that mail sorting machines had been removed in Kansas City and Missouri earlier this year. It’s cued up to 6:47:

It was breathlessly reported by leftist outlets such as Raw Story that Meadows was busted for lying, but in fact Meadows argued that the machines removed earlier this year were part of an already scheduled reallocation that is a part of their effort to try and make the USPS more efficient. He said that unless these sorting machines were part of an already scheduled reallocation, they aren’t being removed.

Trump just tweeted during the writing of this post that his administration is trying to make the post office great again, which is what all of this reallocation is all about:

Pelosi calls emergency session

As I pointed out above, Democrats are feverishly pushing these baseless conspiracies about the post office and now Pelosi has in effect called an emergency session of the House so they can make more noise about it and get people even more worked up about it as the DNC closes this week:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is calling the House back into session over the crisis at the U.S. Postal Service, setting up a political showdown amid growing concerns that the Trump White House is trying to undermine the agency ahead of the election.

Pelosi is cutting short lawmakers’ summer recess with a vote expected the Saturday on legislation that would prohibit changes at the agency as tensions mount.

“In a time of a pandemic, the Postal Service is Election Central,” Pelosi wrote Sunday in a letter to colleagues, who had been expected to be out of session until September. “Lives, livelihoods and the life of our American Democracy are under threat from the president.”

They are also calling for a hearing…

Earlier Sunday, Democratic lawmakers demanded that leaders of the Postal Service testify at an emergency oversight hearing Aug. 24 on mail delays.

The House Oversight and Reform Committee said it wants to hear from DeJoy and from the chair of the Postal Service board of governors, Robert “Mike” Duncan.

This is a tough one. If the Republican Postmaster General Louis DeJoy agrees to attend the House hearing, then he risks being treated like AG Barr was treated in his recent hearing where he didn’t get the opportunity to answer questions and explain things properly while Democrats demagogued and accused him of all things evil. If DeJoy doesn’t go because of the way AG Barr was treated, Democrats and the media will claim he’s hiding something and with this being about the election, it will likely make everything even worse.

Speaking of DeJoy, protesters went to his North Carolina home over the weekend to protest and yell about this foolishness:

At the end of the day this is all one big nothingburger. But Democrats are hell bent on using this phony USPS scandal to foment anti-Trump sentiment before the election in hopes that they can defeat Trump in November. That’s what all of this is really about and it just shows, once again, the immoral depths Democrats like Pelosi and Schiff will sink to in order to oust this president.
