[UPDATED: Trump apparently not ACTUALLY on Gab]

[UPDATED BELOW]

Former President Donald J. Trump, still leader of the Republican party as far as the base is concerned, has FINALLY made his first foray back into social media since the Big Tech Purge pushed him off of Twitter and Facebook.

And he did it on Gab, which is the most hated platform by lefties everywhere.

Trump’s Gab account previously automatically posted whatever he was tweeting. So you can see a post history there going back a while (by the way, that’s a good way to see his tweets now that the actual tweets have been nerfed.)

But this is his first NEW social media message since January 8, and looks like it’s the first time he’s used Gab for a native message, rather than a Twitter crosspost.

Newsweek is asking whether this could signal his RETURN to social media, meaning with some kind of regularity since obviously it’s a literal return to social media.

We can only hope. When Parler comes back, I hope he’s posting there, too. I personally prefer the Parler set-up, assuming they can work out some of the kinks.

UPDATE: Despite the many mainstream reports on this new Gab post in the President’s name on an account that says “Verified”, it turns out that Trump really isn’t on Gab personally. Gab admits they are running an account for Trump in hopes that one day he’ll join Gab, but that hasn’t happened thus far. So what looks like Trump is not really Trump. Which is pretty weird, to be honest.

Here’s the CEO of Gab explaining:

Frankly there seems like a big difference between reposting tweets from elsewhere, and Gab just creating a brand new post on their own in his name, don’t you think?

BRING BACK PARLER.
